Clintwood - Appy game

I haven't said he was or wasn't ejected, all I am saying is to let the playes involved "duke" it out in a ring and settle it there. Personally, and this is my opinion, if someone was pinching, punching, biting, or whatever, I think I would have gotten up and body-slammed their a@@ on the ground. Like I said, that is my opinion.

Think of football officials like pro wrestling referrees. It's their job to not see the heel's tag. They only catch the face running in after not seeing the tag.

That wasn't a reply to you centennialdawg, you just happened to be the last one that posted. It wasn't directed at anybody in particular.

I have seen the film and IMO it didn't warrant an ejection I was just stating what I have been told.

hitting, pinching, stomping, grabing vonerable areas THIS IS FOOTBALL mean and nasty if some guy pinches you then tell the ref and knock the hell out of the guy when you get a chance but if you push him or throw a punch(which is stupid because everyone is wearing helmets) you are going to get caught

I will agree with you that a lot goes on in the bottom of the pile, but I would not call that football. It is just what can happen when you are unable beat someone man on man. But it is definately not football, just a bad part of the game.

I'm just wondering why you as a grown woman would go and bad mouth a child like that. If you are an adult you need to act like one.

And for your luck just be glad it wasn't my child you decided to bad mouth..

Ok I reserved comment on this incident until things had played out. First off, slowing the film down, frame by frame even, there was nothing that resembled a punch. If anything, and that's an if, it was a push off, which if pushes equivalent to what occurred resulted in players being ejected, we wouldn't have 11 players on most teams to finish the game. Even after watching it several times, it was hard to see anything warranting a personal foul, forget something that causes a player to be thrown out.

The Appy coaches were yelling before there was really a pile up. I honestly think the first ones yelled due to the way Clintwood handled the onside kick. Instead of trying to catch it and fall on it, the front line delivered a hit, with the second line being the ones who were trying to field it. I kind of think that since that isn't the way a lot of teams handle the onside, that they felt it was 'illegal'.

I thought it was kind of funny how Robbins managed to throw a punch while laying on the ball. Watching the film, 3 officials are standing over the pile as bodies are being pulled off. No flags were thrown during this. The referee got the ball from Robbins and when he got up it did look like there was a bump between him and the Appy player. No flags were thrown at this point. No Appy players were jumping and yelling. No Clintwood players were jumping and yelling. Robbins was actually over on the sidelines when the official threw the flag. The reason given when it was asked why he hadn't thrown the flag was he thought someone else already had. I'll give the official the benefit of the doubt that he thought that, but normally no matter what, you see flags thrown, thus the reason you see 3-4 flags on such a play. And a personal foul, you normally see the flags fly immediately and straight up in the air. It was actually like 1-2 of the Appy coaches were more concerned about getting a player from Clintwood ejected and considered that a victory of some sorts. Several people I spoke to from Appy, and more than 1 coach, seemed to be at a loss what escalated the situation. I think it was one of those situations where someone yells and everybody yells because they think something happened, swearing that they seen it. I think some of the Appy coaches knew that Clintwood had taken the high road in the last 2 weeks, subbing very liberally and allowing them, particularly in the Saturday game, kind of go into the offseason with a bit of something to build on, instead of a shutout by 40=50 points. Especially considering that Appy gets gutted by graduation, while Clintwood would return most of the team, and were not wanting to give the Clintwood players or staff to be having a chip on their shoulders when they met next year.

My guess would be since there wasn't a flag thrown initially and none was thrown until the Appy coaches were at midfield, that since there wasn't a second personal foul, it was a 15 yard personal foul and he was pulled by the Clintwood staff. Honestly, thats what I and quite a number of people thought the initial flag was on, the Appy coaches being at midfield.

I didin't see the game, but I can tell you this, no coach should be allowed to just come out on the field like that unless there is an injury or the official calls him out there. I hope the kids gets to play next week and from what I have been hearing, I believe he will.

Now, with that being said, too many coaches think that they have every right in the world to do whatever they want. I am from Appy, but if you all will remember what I said when Austin took over the program at Appy, team discipline would go down the drain, and it looks like it has. He is not a coach; never has and never will be. I am sorry if this post offends any of the Appy faithful, but the truth is the truth. Yeah, Tom had his own personal problems, but when it came to coaching, he demanded discipline from his players. Austin was a "political" pick for that coaching job and everyone in Appy knows it. I am sorry folks, but if the people from Appy are ever gonna see any success in the football program up there, they need to run him off! Maybe someone from Appy still has the "balls" to stand up and start demanding answers. I am sorry, but 6-5 is not even a mediocre season for Appy.
